Pamper the New Mom
The new mom recovering from a c-section needs extra pampering. She isn't just working hard at being a great mom - she is also healing from major surgery. This page has a few ideas of how to treat her to the special pampering she deserves - but don't stop here. Anything that will help her remember that she is a fabulous person beyond being a fabulous mom will do a world of good.
TummyStyle Nursing Pajamas: send a special present for the nursing mom, just when she needs to be reminded how much everyone believes in her and loves her. New nursing PJs are both practical and a special treat when you are likely to spend most of your time in them.
Letters to My Baby: Write Now. Read Later. Treasure Forever.: This gift will give the new mom 12 letters with prompts to help the new mom fill them with memories that can be sealed and opened in the future.
You don't have to buy something - try these ideas:
Give the gift of time. Offer to sit with the baby so that there can be adult naps, long bathes or a chance to get out of the house. Recovering from a c-section needs makes it harder to make time for healing and recovering from the surgery.
If you can't give a break in person, check into hiring a Postpartum Doula.
Cook the family a meal or two. Offer to do the laundry. Put out the garbage. Vacuum. Take the older kids out for pizza. You get the idea! Just give the new parent(s) a break from some of the other things that someone recovering from a c-section wish they could take care of (or sometimes try to before they should).
